History
2000-2001
In
the year of Bellingham High's reopening, the boys golf team
was left with no seniors. As a young team, we had a lot of talent
but lacked experience when it came to course management.
By the end of the year our average strokes per game were
lower than many other schools.
2001-2002
In Bellingham High's second year after reopening, the
boys golf team improved by coming in first place by 28
strokes in the NW League Championship. Our team
placed fifth in the State Championship, with three individuals
and Jeff V. placing third.
2002-2003
Bellingham Boys Golf team had their best season in history
placing first in League and first in the State Championship,
with three individuals going to state, Chris K. placed second
and Jeff V. placing sixth to capture the team title.
2003-2004
Bellingham defended the state title in boys golf capturing the NW league
title on their way to taking state. Chris K. was the individual medalist
at state for the Red Raiders.
2004-2005
Bellingham placed second at the state golf tournament held in Spokane,
and for the second consecutive year captured the NW District I title.
Chris K. place 5th at state and repeated as medalist in the NW District
tournament. Spencer H. also represented the Red Raiders placing 16th at
state. This is the first year at Districts that schools were allowed six
representatives in previous years the district had five participants scoring
four. Bellingham was the only team at the NW District Tournament to qualify
all six golfers after the first round.
2005-2006
Bellingham placed 3rd in League and 4th in Districts sending two golfers
to the State Tournament, Spencer Holdridge and Bryant D’Hondt. Spencer
Holdridge our senior and captain will play next year for Western Washington
University, he set one tournament record low and has the two lowest scores
recorded by a Raider golfer. At Black Rock Creek, he set a tournament
record 64 and in league at Skagit Valley shot a 65. This year’s
team was young with only one senior.
