Homework Due: Letters 9 & 10.

  1. Check in with Mr. Everett on your progress.
  2. Questions concerning your letters? Letter 1 should have been turned in on Friday. Letters 9 & 10 should be done today. Letter 18 is probably a work in progress. Let's have it completed on Wednesday before the end of the period. I'll share with you which letter(s) I want you to turn in on Wednesday.
  3. Discuss MicroType and the parameters around keyboarding. We also have to establish your network connections with your MicroType folder. (Start by creating a new folder named, strangely enough, keyboarding.) Follow Mr. Everett's lead...start working with MicroType.

Friday, february 8, 2008 - B Day

Homework Due: None!

  1. MicroType for 20 minutes. Be sure to be working on your Alphabetic lessons!
  2. Review specific requirements for business letters: margins, addresses, block, modified, salutation, closing, body, date, others?
  3. Discuss the celebrity letter...
    • Identify one who you would enjoy receiving a reply and get their address. Here are some to try: fan site 1, fan site 2.
    • Don't start one single bit of your letter without first obtaining an address. Your celebrity must reside in the United States. BHS will not provide postage to Europe or Canada!
    • Provide a positive letter explaining why you hold this individual in such high regard. Compliments are a great idea! Your objective is to write an enticing enough letter to receive a response - to which Mr. Everett will be happy to provide bonus points! Start with a draft and then move on. Note: You don't want to freak this person out.
    • Write your modified block letter. Use the proper format!
    • Use the school's address and my name as your return address:
      Super Student
      C/O James Everett
      Bellingham High School
      2020 Cornwall Avenue
      Bellingham, WA 98225
    • You will need to come in Monday with your celebrity, their address, and a plan for your content...
