  1. Welcome and introductions...
  2. Review of the syllabus. Please read, review, and sign it for tomorrow...
  3. Goals of video production: journalism, community-building, marketable skills, sharing information... your views?
    1. journal: What makes a good news story? What is something you remember in the news? Why do you remember it? How did that story affect you?
    2. Consider the topic above and write for 10-15 minutes. Bring your writing to class on Wednesday.

Wednesday, September 3, 2008 - C Day

Homework Due: a. Signed syllabus. b. Journal on a good news story.

  1. Share information about journalism and discuss ideas.
  2. Rotation:
    1. Tour of the studio...
    2. Begin reading blog from Online Journalism Review. Complete a PNI review of the article for Friday.
      1. Read the article.
      2. Identify 3 positive items in the article. Write them down and comment on each one.
      3. Identify 3 negative items in the artice. Write them down and comment on each one
      4. Identify 3 interesting items in the article - either new or different than you have heard before. Write them down and comment on them.

Thursday, September 4, 2007 - a Day

Homework Due: a. Signed syllabus. b. PNI to the blog from Online Journalism Review. (If you forgot the syllabus, it is now late. You should turn it in Monday for 50% credit.)

  1. Collect and discuss blog. Identify foundational components for video journalism.
  2. Camera details...
  3. Begin with reading Production Overviews I & II on Cybercollege's Television Production course. Complete the readings, keep track of the vocabulary, and do the online quizzes for each overview. Show your quiz results to Mr. Everett after each reading.
